Yoga for Anxiety and Depression Workshop Immersion
Yoga has been scientifically proven to support emotional well-being and inner peace. The breath-centered exercises, meditation, and breathing exercises of Yoga have been mindfully studied and selected to meet the individual needs of the practitioner suffering from anxiety and depression.
Mental health has never become more relevant. This workshop intends to acknowledge those who have been suffering long before recent worldly events and those who have noticed an increase in symptoms or are experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression, and grief - for the first time. This workshop is designed to help the participants to become empowered to support their treatment of their anxiety, depression, or grief with Yoga practices meant to meet the needs of their emotional state at any moment or day. This practice is an empowering reminder that we have the innate ability to heal ourselves within our own beings.
This workshop series is for beginner to advanced Yoga practitioners. Some previous Yoga experience is recommended but not necessary.
Intentions of the workshop Immersion:
Briefly address a wide-range of diagnoses in order to introduce the Yogic perspective and philosophy on mental health
Discuss the possibilities of combinations of anxiety and depression in the body and/or mind, and how Yoga can help
Meditation practices to provide inner peace in body, mind, and spirit
Education on how specific breathing practices can help soothe anxiety and depression depending on which is prominent for the individual
Gentle Yoga postures to address the physiology of emotional health and how it shows up in the body
Guided deep relaxation. When the body is in a relaxed state, healing can occur at many levels.
This immersion is in two parts. We will cover the yogic perspective on anxiety on day one. There will be a lecture and discussion portion as well as an experiential practice including: postures and movement, breath-work, and relaxation & meditation. These practices are specifically designed to ground and calm the nervous system.
On day two we will cover the yogic perspective on depression with an experiential practice that is designed to meet the symptoms of depression in the body & mind. Each class will always end with a relaxation portion.
It is intended that you attend both classes to gain the full experience. However, there is the option to attend one. If so, please choose the day that may be more aligned with your needs.

ABOUT THE TEACHER
Amy is a Certified Yoga Therapist who specializes in back pain, chronic pain, anxiety, depression, grief and more. Yoga Therapy is a therapeutic, individualized variation to the practice. This approach to Yoga takes into account our unique situations and invites the practice to be molded to suit us, rather than us to suit the practice. Over a decade long personal Yoga practice has shifted as she went through periods of intense grief, despair AND joy. It is her passion and privilege to share this practice with others, so they too can experience the support Yoga offers.
